Steve ’n’ Seagulls (FIN) at Corner Hotel (Richmond, VIC) on Wednesday, 5 April 2023

What do you get when you combine bluegrass, Finnish folk and rock metal music? Steve ’n’ Seagulls!

Having played at some of the biggest festivals on earth, such as Wacken Open Air, Rencontres Trans Musicales, and Sweden Rock, Steve ’n’ Seagulls will be soon on Australian shores, playing The Corner Hotel, Melbourne, on Wednesday, 5 April.

Dubbed the band you didn’t know you missed but the band you know you want to hear again, Steve ’n’ Seagulls rose to fame in 2014 when they filmed three live music videos back on their farm. One video, with their unique take on AC/DC classic Thunderstruck, took the internet by storm. Since then, their music videos have gathered close to 280 million views on YouTube alone.

Steve 'n' Seagulls have recorded four studio albums. The debut album Farm Machine (2015) took the band on the road for 170 shows in Europe and North America. The second album, Brothers in Farms (2016), took the band all the way to the #1 position on the Billboard bluegrass chart, the first Finnish band ever. In 2020 Steve 'n' Seagulls released their fourth and most ambitious studio album, Another Miracle, which includes half original music and half re-strung classics. So far, all four Steve 'n' Seagulls albums have hit the album charts in Finland and the Billboard bluegrass chart.

Steve 'n' Seagulls will be joined by AC Dixie for their Corner Hotel show. Initially intended as a joke for their children’s primary school fete entertainment in late 2022, Bronwyn Henderson and Sean Simmons celebrate AC/DC by swapping Angus Young’s Gibson 5G for a telecaster and violin and Bon Scott’s bagpipes for an accordion. They then drop a few octaves to hit that Johnny Cash drawl and you have AC Dixie. With only a couple of gigs under their belt, they have already been endorsed by AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd.
